Project’s brief description:Developing AI software to convert voice into Southeast Asian sign languages for Deaf easy information accessibility.
Working language:English, Vietnamese,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_032_VN_EARDU
UN goals:
Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Top 1 enterprise pioneering in Southeast Asia in 5 years by software integrating to online platforms translating information into sign languages. It uses technology with low cost, extensive distribution to assist the Deaf’s equal information, better communicate, entertain, learn and work in a fully supportive environment, without any difficulties.
Social challenge:Firstly, there is a limitation in education for Southeast Asian Deaf people. Because they are Deaf or hard of hearing, they cannot access learning platforms and documents, especially E-learning platforms. Some online education platforms and mass media relate to Deaf people: Coursera, Youtube, Zoom,…
Secondly, there is a shortage of human resources for sign language interpreters. In Vietnam, there are about 2.5 million Deaf and hard of hearing people. Meanwhile, the number of professional sign language interpreters is only about 10 people, a large difference (0.0004%). Most sign language learners are non-specialists who are Deaf family members who learn at the level of daily life communication. In addition, to become interpreters, learners must learn signs and pass high standard tests. (donghanh viet.vn, 2021).
Thirdly, there is an inequality in access to information. Sign language interpreting tools and software are still limited in terms of voice, and text. In Vietnam, they have limited choice to reach information from mass media (VTV – Government channel has only one channel which has professional interpreters).
Solution idea:A 3D model using AI to convert voice/text into sign languages in online platforms. A machine learning system that provides a solution for voice-to-sign language translation without human intervention. Products are handed over for integration on digital platforms of information communication enterprises.

Project’s brief description:”Active Ageing Vietnam” assists planning for retirement to ensure financial security and health care access.
Working language:English, Vietnamese,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_051_VN_ACTIV
UN goals:
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
To reduce poverty, promote good health and well-being for the elderly in the upcoming ageing population phase of Vietnam (UN Goal 1,3). To create a sustainable community by making active ageing plans a necessity for everyone. (UN Goal 11). To become the top-of-mind solution packages assisting plans for the future.
Social challenge:As the world has been grappling with the rapid ageing population, Vietnam is no exception. In fact, Vietnam is one of the fastest ageing countries. By 2035, the number of people above 60 years of age will exceed one-fifth of its population. However, a recent report indicates that while 16% of Vietnamese people aged over 60 are classified as poor, only 23.5% are entitled to a monthly pension or social insurance allowance. Also, limited healthcare systems in Vietnam have negatively affected post-retirement efficiency and enjoyment of the elderly. Combining that the traditional Vietnamese family model with many generations living under one roof has gradually shifted to the nuclear family model, more concerns have been raised. Without an active attitude in preparation for the age above 60, the elderly will face serious consequences: financial restraint and limited access to healthcare services. Along with the Government’s policy changes, we expect that “Active Ageing Vietnam” is an optimal solution in promoting a positive mindset towards financial security and healthcare preparation for an ageing Vietnam by 2035. In the first stage, our target audience is middle-income working people who have at least 15 years before retirement.
Solution idea:The solution package is composed of a mobile app, website and series of workshops developed with a digital approach. Our mobile app and website are under construction with user-friendly tools for personal financial management, savings planning, health and investment information, etc. The project will provide a network of experts in finance and wellness so that our target customers can have frequent interactions with experts via an online platform and offline events in order to keep our customers on track with their long-term plans. By providing the solution package, the project offers the initiative for working people to prepare for their life from now till 2035. All working people at 25 – 45 years old can join and enjoy benefits from the project. Moreover, the project aims to build a connected community that shares the same interest in social activities, entertainment, and health so that it helps to generate long-term impacts for the aging society.

UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
We advocate for the integration of social-emotional learning in different school systems, so Vietnamese youth are equipped with knowledge and tools to take care of their mental health, thereby reducing suicide mortality rate (UN3), building an empathetic and sustainable society (UN4) – the foundation of worldwide peace and happiness (UN16).
Social challenge:According to WHO report – by 2020 DEPRESSION is the second most harmful condition to human health after heart disease. Every year, 400,000 people commit suicide due to depression, that is 45 people commit suicide every hour due to depression. In Vietnam: according to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF): The rate of adolescent depression is up to 29%, of which only 20% of them receive the necessary support. Most cases skip the “golden phase” of identification and treatment, leading to chronic conditions in adulthood. According to Vietnam National Children’s Hospital: In 2019, the rate of adolescents with depression was 26.3%. Of which: Children with thoughts about death were 6.3%, children planning suicide were 4.6%, children who attempted suicide were 5.8%.Our Start-up is to nurture the mental self-care ability for the future generation by providing prevention tools and emotional healthy environment to embark on self-exploring path and eradicating negative thoughts and feelings.
Solution idea:AGATE is a school of wellbeing for future generation. We are about actionable knowledge and tools designed for the purpose of nurturing the mental self-care and self-exploring ability for teenagers. Our core program is the YOUniverse psychology course, developed and instructed by experts. Our students represent the generation of braveness in staying real, being compassionate and having true courage to become their best authentic version of self.AGATE community mission is to build strong belief in young generation by changing the term “peer pressure” into “peer motivation”, which is expected to be the most important aspect for long-term consistency in practice and self-transformation.

Working language:English, Vietnamese,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_100_VN_BACKT
UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Build a community in which the elderly can relax, learn their favorite subjects, feel free to communicate with other peers to avoid aging-associated diseases, and together participate in developing the country so that it will become more prospective, civilized, and liveable.
Social challenge:To begin with, our team – Back To School (BTS) witnessed that there are strong affections among elderly people in Vietnam to pursue learning interesting subjects in a well-organized learning environment but hesitate to enroll because of the age barrier. The social conventions in Vietnamese culture toward the elderly make it difficult to deal with this problem, as they are expected to look after their grandchildren while their son/daughter is working, even when there are some old people’s associations or hobby clubs for the elders. Creating an organized, cozy and same-age school environment for old people is our choice for this problem as it can greatly improve morale, temper, and at the same time help prevent several old age diseases related to nerves, bones, joints,… Secondly, Vietnam is forecast to experience a period of population aging from 2026 to 2054 and the issue of ensuring the cultural and spiritual life for the elderly as well as resolving generational conflicts in an aging population has not been given much attention. That may cause some negative effects and concerns for the younger generation in the family leading to economic stagnation. BTS aims to help busy young people to take better care of their parents so they can balance their life and focus more on economic development and contribute to society.
Solution idea:Our team – Back To School (BTS) plans to develop an education system for the elders in form of establishing schools for only people from the age of 50. We solve the problem of learning, experience and health monitoring needs of different customer groups by providing the choice of a suitable learning path for both the elderly who want to experience but still want to be at home with their children and grandchildren; and the elderly who want to study full-time at boarding school and enjoy health care services alike as in a nursing home. Our project divides students into 2 main groups. The first group is free students who will be able to choose their courses, use school facilities such as practicing room for yoga, traditional dance, gym, library, reading space, lab,… participate in different activities, contests and periodic tour programs… The second group is boarding students which are the same as group one but they will benefit from additional health care services, dormitory system and some other facilities for boarding students. For boarding students, BTS will provide student accounts and guardian accounts for a tracking app that connects learners with other family members to facilitate tracking of learning progress as well as health and other statuses. Finally, every student who takes courses at our school must commit to having enough health to attend, depending on which course they enroll in.

Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_036_MX_BPALL
UN goals:
Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
To be a social enterprise that participates in the project and construction of sustainable and low-cost living spaces for people in vulnerable conditions (single mothers, older adults, persons with disabilities) whose proposals are adapted to the different environments they face to improve their quality of life.
Social challenge:Currently 220 million people live in poverty. Of the 101 existing countries, Mexico ranks 35th among the countries with the largest population in these conditions, being in Latin America, the 11th country out of 19. As for our state, Veracruz has more than 5 million people live in poverty. Our state ranks in 11th with the highest number of precarious roofs and 2nd place nationally with walls in poor condition. It is possible to see this problem reflected in precarious houses, deficient educational spaces and in poor conditions, lack of work facilities, shortage of basic services. In the other hand, one of the most important problems worldwide is the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere which generates irreversible damage to the atmosphere. Mexico is one of the 11 countries worldwide with the highest amount of CO2 emissions. In 2020, our country emitted 490 tons of CO2 per year; which 65% correspond to the industry and construction sector. As university students, we want to contribute to mitigate the climate change, by reversing the high use of the traditional construction materials, in order to privilege the sustainable construction methods and the use of recycled materials.
Solution idea:To achieve the objectives, it seeks to work on measures to combat climate change and its effects, change attitudes, resort to renewable energy and other solutions to reduce emissions and increase adaptation efforts. University students, with the support of academics, propose to give a second life to pallet-type waste materials. The idea is to build a sustainable and low-cost living space that adapts to the natural and artificial conditions of the environment, with a program that covers the necessary areas for each type of family through flexible spaces in order to adapt to the needs of the family. needs for a better life. It is important to mention that the social, cultural, environmental, economic and material needs available are considered. On the other hand, it organizes social services brigades to coordinate the construction. Finally, they prepare a business plan for the sustainability of the initiative, and coordinate, advise and supervise the execution of the project through stages of citizen coverage.Take urgent action to combat climate change and its effects, change attitudes, turn to renewable energy and other solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase adaptation efforts. The project contributes to the use of pallets that, since they are not used in any other way, are incinerated and contaminate the environment, so the project seeks to implement a process of reuse of materials that is found within topics such as the three R’s, reduce, recycle and reuse. A revitalized global partnership is needed to meet the challenges of implementing the sustainable development goals. Joint work between the public sector (government entities), the academic sector (University), the private sector (APIVER company) and the social sector (citizens’ committees). In such a way that, by working as a team, each of these sectors can complement each other and create a beneficial result.
Looking for members:Enthusiastic and purposeful people who want to generate a change in the lives of vulnerable people, and who are interested in working for a change in society through proposals generated from environmentally friendly materials. They must be willing to work hard until they achieve the goal.
Looking for coaches:Professionals who want to contribute with their knowledge and work to improve the quality of life of people suffering from poverty, without personal interest involved. People passionate about their work who propose creative ideas based on their criteria.
Looking for advisors and mentors:Individuals with a professional criteria based on their knowledge and experiences who are willing to share it with the work team to generate ideas that contribute to meeting the goals.
Looking for sponsors:People who like to get involved and support projects that seek social improvement without having personal interests involved. People who like to support social projects and who like to help others.

By 2034 seniors aged 65 and older will outnumber children under 18 for the first time in U.S history. Seniors are becoming one of the fastest-growing demographics in many countries. Carefam care training platform can help guide family caregivers in their care for the rapidly growing worldwide aging population.
Social challenge:Carefam helps family caregivers receiving professional training so they can take better care of their loved one. 78% of family caregivers use their own money to care for their loved ones, spending an average of $7500 in 2019. This idea came to us when I was a former family caregiver for my grandpa. I didn’t have the time to look for sources or receive training that will help me with my situation. There were times I felt helpless and my family too because some didn’t speak English so it was hard for them to get help. This also affects the patient because of me being a family caregiver they have a higher chance of injury and chances of hospitalization.

UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Establish ourselves in the regional market in 2022 and have the opportunity to educate the population with A.I.R.E (Auxiliary in Intervention for Effective CPR) seeking to expand to the international market, achieving that by 2030 the mortality rate due to poor interventions during unemployment is reduced cardiac.
Social challenge:Our main challenge is to stand out as a Marking Training Center in 2022 and have the opportunity to teach people about A.I.R.E. (Auxiliary in the Intervention for an Effective CPR) its usefulness and the right time and situation for its use. In addition, we want to expand our market internationally, by 2025, we hope to reduce 60% of the mortality rate due to poor interventions during cardiac arrest. We seek to provide a solution to Objective 3: Good health and well-being by promoting a culture of practice and training in first aid and Objective 4: Quality education, with our continuous training. Our greatest motivation is to reduce the mortality rate caused by poor intervention during cardiac arrest, since according to the WHO 80% of cardiorespiratory arrests occur at home where most families do not have basic knowledge or the necessary equipment to make a timely intervention and save the life of your family member.
Solution idea:The Veracruzano University Training Center (CECAUV) is focused on providing continuing education to the general population with or without knowledge on issues related to first aid, offering our product A.I.R.E. (Auxiliary in the Intervention for an Effective CPR) which consists of a glove that incorporates technologies capable of guiding the user during the application of CPR. This product can help increase the chances of survival for people experiencing cardiac arrest. Emphasizing that currently, although there are devices that help in CPR in an advanced way, its market focuses on health personnel, neglecting the needs of the most vulnerable population. This glove has LED traffic lights, where the green indicates if you are compressing correctly, the amber indicates that you should compress harder and the red light tells you to compress slower. In addition, it has a sound to establish the constant and correct frequency to increase the quality of CPR, it is linked to an application via Bluetooth which is responsible for supporting all the information obtained at the time of cardiorespiratory arrest and this allows you to consult educational information. CECAUV arises from the need to educate the general population about the importance and correct application of a good Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation technique in order to have greater safety when applying CPR with the support of the A.I.R.E. glove. which serves as a guide to the user on how to do it according to the characteristics of the basic technique in a timely manner since the main objective consumers are the relatives of users with cardiovascular diseases who are at home, in which the services of specialized health performing the necessary interventions.

Working language:English, Spanish,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_066_AR_PUENT
UN goals:
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Women’s empowerment transforms communities and economies. That is why we dream of being the bridge that allows companies managed by women from vulnerable contexts to emerge and prosper in every corner of Latin America, as an essential driver of equality and sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Social challenge:1- Argentine women dedicate twice of hours to unpaid tasks compared to Argentine men. 2-Low-income women from Northwest Argentine Northwest and with low schooling tend to be the ones with the lowest activity rate compared to men. 3-. Those who already undertake in contexts of vulnerability usually have the following 3 barriers:– Financing: very limited access to financing. The informality and precariousness of businesses make them high-risk subjects for banks and other traditional financial institutions, and the informal credit channels that some have access to are often very expensive.– Production: in these sectors, the productive capacity usually has different limitations: infrastructure, organizational, logistics, which hinder the growth and sustainability of the enterprises.– Marketing: most of these units have very few marketing channels. Most are usually informal and random, which creates a big limitation when it comes to being able to scale production processes and give them predictability over time. The Northwest Argentine has one of the worst gender gaps in the activity rate. In educational terms, when there are fewer educational levels achieved, the gap is bigger. And the lower the income quintile, the bigger the gap.4. The largest investment in social spending by civil society organizations, companies and governments in Argentina to attack the lack of income is in philanthropic actions, especially donations or delivery of conditional cash transfers or food. For these reasons, they propose training without specific goals that ensure the development of sustainable businesses.
Solution idea:Our team’s goal is to accelerate the income of economically vulnerable women by generating bonds between communities and companies. By incubating women-led social businesses with sustainable models and self-development schemes we believe we could transform communities and migrate firms corporate social responsability from filantropy to empowerment. These social businesses will provide services required by their corporate partners, replacing traditional suppliers in those specific needs. Additionally, our incubator will focus on group power and networking in order to nourish each woman dreams and projects while increasing their firms’ survival rate.

Social challenge:According to the Sustainable Development Goals Report of 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused devastating effects to the progress of the SDG, affecting to a greater extent people and communities in vulnerable situations. That is why the complexity of the challenges we face as humanity increases, and why cross-cutting and integral initiatives are required to promote action and involvement of a greater number of actors and resources, as is required the necessity to promote coordinated actions to maximize the impact on communities. In this new scenario, information and communication technologies, targeted towards newer generations, are key to contribute in a positive way to the achievement of the sustainable goals proposed by the UN. We are motivated to develop a project so that every person and every actor acknowledges themselves as part of the problem and part of the solution, with the purpose to join forces and collaborate on the generation of the change that we need to build a sustainable present and future.
Solution idea:Our business idea, Connect the Dots (CTD), is a platform that unites actors with the initiative to live more sustainably. It connects businesses and institutions with the resources needed to carry out sustainable projects. It connects NGOs, experts and activists with the knowledge and culture to make sure the projects are sustainable for specific issues and communities. It connects volunteers with a wish to help build a better world. And it connects marginalized, vulnerable communities who want help with these key actors to carry out “sustainable challenges”, that are specific and UN goals oriented. Moreover, CTD connects users and helps people become long-term volunteers, encouraged by gamification elements integrated in the user experience. Once a challenge is completed, you can level up in CTD, thus becoming an actor of change in your local community, and in the digital, international community as well. CTD helps develop sustainable relationships between actors, and works as a “sustainable portfolio”, as all completed challenges come with CTD-verified certifications, for volunteers and businesses too. In this way, CTD works as a facilitator to build these relationships that help fix local, specific problems, with specific actors. The platform unites everyone on a digital environment first and works on a tangible territory with real issues later. By combining engineering, business management, technology, with design and experiences, we can achieve activism and real, sustainable impact outside a digital environment, where we talk with those we are helping. We learn their stories and help build new ones. We believe there is no sustainability without collaboration, and strong, durable relationships promote collaboration. That is why we develop CTD, to be actors of change that help build new, long-lasting habits and networks that encourage sustainable development among all.

Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Raise awareness in society in general through courses, training and sustainable tourism experiences in the jungle, the importance of meliponiculture; because we are talking about a pollinator that guarantees the feeding and survival of the population.
Social challenge:In the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, there are eighteen species of native bees (whose main characteristic is that they lack a stinger) that are in danger of extinction due to the deforestation of the jungle, the installation of antennas for cell phone service, and the contamination of the aquifers. This has caused a decrease in the flowering and cultivation of various plant species and organic honey production throughout the region, with the greatest impact being concentrated in the Maya Zone of the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico.Likewise, the Mayan population that inhabits said area is in poverty (71.80%) and poverty in extreme poverty (10%). In addition, it presents an acute educational lag that is manifested through an income below the minimum well-being line. Also, face restrictions on access to essential housing services, employment discrimination, exploitation of their land, violation of their rights, violence, and job insecurity. This situation has caused, in some cases, their migration to the north of the State of Quintana Roo (Tulúm, Cancún, and Playa del Carmén) or the United States of America in search of better opportunities.
Solution idea:Develop a sustainable ecotourism project consisting of a “meliponario” in a preserved forest to offer guided tours to national and international tourists whose attraction is to interact with traditional meliponary bees and taste honey from different native bees observe the native bees through trails in its natural environment. It will be complemented with traditional medicine sessions that will allow an understanding of the importance of nectar-polliniferous plants in treating some ailments. To spread the richness of the Mayan culture and its worldview, visitors will interact in traditional ceremonies related to native bees, learn the Mayan language and enjoy the traditional cuisine. In this project, it is intended that the community improve their well-being and reduce the endemic problems they face, preserve their culture, conserve the richness of flora and fauna of the Mayan jungle, and preserve native bee species.

UN goals:
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Glocal IELTS attempts to be the leading educational organization for rural Vietnamese students by enhancing their English language ability, social knowledge, skills, and personal experiences. Through customized programs and practical activities, students will practice being socially responsible and making efforts for local issues, contributing to sustainable cities and communities.
Social challenge:In Vietnam, most students in grade 6 take at least 6 years to study English. However, Swiss Education First (EF – 2021) says that Vietnam has been listed in the low-proficiency category which is an individual only being able to “navigate an English-speaking country as a tourist, engage in small talk with colleagues, and understand simple emails from colleagues.” Students in Vietnam are wasting the most ideal time to learn English, which is from grade 6 to grade 9. If students have not been released from the burden of English, they won’t have time to practice social skills, run projects to solve local problems, improve their ability to work as well as become global citizens. This leads to a younger generation of wasted talent. The above has led to the imbalance of human resources in rural areas and cities. Human resources tend to flock to big cities because they do not see the potential development in rural areas and lack thinking about social responsibility, which leads to unsustainable development. For those working in the field of education in general and English training in particular, the above problems exist and hinder the sustainable development of Vietnam and developing countries as well.
Solution idea:WhatGlocal IELTS (Glocal IELTS – Glocal English) is a project to improve the comprehensive development capacity of secondary school students in rural areas. Who + WhereStudents aged 11 – 15 years old (extension: 18 years old), living in rural and mountainous areas in Vietnam and developing countries. In addition, they do not have the conditions as well as the help and support from their parents to practice the necessary skills for sustainable development in the future. After that, the project will expand and reach 1000+ students in 2022. We promote integration and professionalization of the grocery retail ecosystem through simple quality education and tech driven tools thriving sustained growth of local economies, seeking to make every point of sale along the country a local economic impact engine.
Social challenge:Our target social challenge is to educate, train, professionalize and provide comprehensive solutions to the network of small grocery retailers in Argentina, made up of more than 200,000 points of sale. The profile of the people who own or manage these businesses usually have little professional or technical training in management skills, many times improvising in a daily basis, which makes them very vulnerable to the variables of the context (constant openings and closings). During Covid pandemic, more than 50,000 small grocery stores went out of business. Furthermore, the activity of buying and selling goods is often excluded from entrepreneurs’ assistance programs or other types of public aid. Many producers throughout the country as well as transport companies, towns and, obviously, the employees or owners of these businesses, depend on their continuity and sustainable for their economic development.
Solution idea:Professionalize the network of small grocery stores by providing basic tools for business management that enhance financial inclusion, sustainability and business scaling over time. To carry out this plan we will: – Apply technology: community web pages, educational programs, apps and collaborative environment based on digital platforms. – Engage collaboration of the majority of mass consumption companies to reach all retail stores in Argentina. – Articulate with the State the promotion of policies for this sector that has always been marginalized from all kinds of economic policy.

HEART (location: Vietnam)

Project’s brief description:HEART raises awareness about Postpartum Depression and saves Vietnamese moms and families from its threats
Working language:English, Vietnamese,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_055_VN_HEART
UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
HEART aims to be the most accessible and comprehensive solution for Postpartum Depression (PPD) treatment. We are eager to spread awareness and help relevant Vietnamese moms, families, and society escape from the devastating threats of PPD in the short term and eventually transform it into the well-being of all Asians.
Social challenge:In general, the most significant barriers which Vietnamese birth mothers are facing include:– Lack of awareness about Post-Partum Depression (“PPD”) among the birth mothers and the severity or consequences derived from the phenomenon itself. Most Vietnamese women with signs of such depression do not seek medical services.– Outdated customs in after-birth phases for birth mothers are embedded in Vietnam’s social construct (e.g., mothers should not go outside or join social events in the first month after birth; babies and mothers should sleep in an air-tight room with a coal-heated burner, etc.)– Limited access to adequate PPD treatment – Specifically a lack of diversified and patient-specific treatments for birth mothers under the influences of PPD. It is estimated that 40-50% of PPD cases go undiagnosed and untreated. PPD is a severe problem because of its potentially detrimental impact on a child’s development, the individuals who experience it, and family. Currently, while global birthmothers experiencing PPD rises to around 20% over the years, the actual number can increase to 33% among Vietnamese women. Moreover, more and more child fatalities stem from the mother’s untreated PPD in VietNam. This aforementioned pressing issue is considered the biggest drive that initiates this social project.
Solution idea:Based on the mentioned rationales, the project “HEART” is introduced – to perform as a comprehensive platform, creating a safe space between professionals and the distressed parents as well as strengthening the community, which can altogether combat this urgent social issue. This extensive solution’s biggest goal is to:– Raise awareness about Post-partum Depression among the relevant population.– Perform as a bridge between leading experts, life coaches, psychiatrists, as well as the appropriate psychological advisors (especially in maternity health) and the patient, this is the fundamental services we wish to provide.– Provide sufficient knowledge regarding the relevant topic to distressed parents in particular circumstances (lower-income tier or vulnerable groups).

Social challenge:The entire Humanízate team is motivated by being able to transform our environment and be an example to help more people transform their environment. The seed of violence and social disorder that was implanted many years ago is being harvested, it is time to consciously learn and have a practical guide for the ordering of peace in each human being: children, youth and adults walking towards a personal solution and social, creating a certification for companies and a badge for schools. Violence, emotional illnesses, addictions, are global pandemics that are destroying humanity. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in Mexico. There is no number of health professionals to attend emotional problems and their derivatives one by one. It is not by investing billions of dollars in weapons that we will end the violence. We design a methodology with an exponential effect to build social peace from the individual, family, company, organization, certifying the procedure and its results from the first 7 days.

Working language:English, Vietnamese, French,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_023_VN_TAMU
UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
Icheck will become (1) a well-rounded system with the main purpose of enhancing public health and well-being, and promoting high quality and authentic goods, targeting the 3rd goal of SDGs and (2) a top-of-mind solution for food consumers when making a purchase decision.
Social challenge:We face the increasing problems of dirty and unknown foods, which are harmful to consumers’ health. The situations of fruit juice with added water sweeteners, watery wine, or mislabeled meat and seafood are still prevalent, especially The Western Pacific region where Vietnam is part of which ranks second in the world regarding food-borne diseases as at least 50000 people die from food contamination (US National Library of Medicine). Consequently, consumers lose confidence in buying products. It is challenging to choose safe and suitable products, which seriously threaten health. Not only that, consumers and farmers also lose faith in businesses and vice versa. Our first and foremost motivation is to achieve the third goal – good health and well-being – and the eleventh goal – sustainable cities and communities- of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by promoting the development of clean and original food in the country market. Also, the project’s impetus comes from severe competition and stringent criteria in export products, which requires enterprises’ quality improvement and strict control of all stages of the process. In addition, the fact that consumers want to have transparent and accurate information about the quality origin of products also prompted us to create TAMU.
Solution idea:Stemming from increasing problems of dirty and unknown foods, which are harmful to consumers’ health, TAMU, an electronic logistic for origin tracking app, was born with the mission of collecting and authenticating the entire production process. Using Blockchain technology, GS1 barcode standard system, and QR Code system, TAMU provides clear and transparent product information from the production process, packaging, and shipping of the finished product. Along with that, TAMU also operates analyses such as DNA analysis, biological characteristics analysis, stable isotope ratio analysis (C, O, N, H, S, …) combined with technology to identify records, documents, optical identification (Bar code, QR code). Not only can TAMU promote the achievement of the third and eleventh Sustainable Development Goals goal, but it also provides government agencies, businesses, and consumers with a solution to evaluate product origin according to current Vietnamese standards. The project can help companies comply in all stages of the product manufacturing process, promptly overcome problems throughout the chains, helping to minimize risks. TAMU also supports businesses’ goods to fully meet the standards of the domestic consumer market and some demanding export markets such as the United States, Japan, the EU, etc.

UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Being a quality educational resource to create awareness and commitment to the sea, through playful activities, in families and educational institutions. These constant eco-social activities help to maintain an aware community, being a keeper of the sea and improving environmental conditions in our society.
Social challenge:Currently in our country there is a lack of information on marine culture, despite the fact that maritime transport is the main transport in international exchanges, and ports are the key to the success of maritime logistics. There is not enough education or inclusion of women in it, which indicates the deficiency of optimal exploitation of maritime resources, which is why many opportunities for economic development are lost in the coastal states of our country. According to data from the Development Bank of Latin America, Mexico needs an investment of 16,000 million dollars to close the gap in demand and competitiveness with respect to the great powers. It is not only essential in maritime trade due to its strategic position, but also because of its importance for the continent due to its connectivity with other countries (The future is in the sea, 2019). Our main objective is to offer quality maritime education aimed especially at children, but also at men, women and young people in a simple, accessible and accessible and fun way to raise awareness of three important aspects, marine pollution, endangered species and the benefit of ports in our day to day.
Solution idea:Our project seeks to cover a sector with less widely in society, especially in our city. We offer in a didactic way and with little knowledge in the branch, an easy description of how this maritime field as it develops in the world by covering from early ages in order to impact on their professional development even young people who have knowledge in the field. The advantage of this project is that any organization with an interest in supporting the dissemination of the culture of education can promote it.

UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Social challenge:Due to various factors in daily modern life, children are more susceptible to mental health issues while lacking access to proper advice, diagnosis and treatment. According to UNICEF, about than 25% of the global population aged 10-19 are diagnosed with mental health issues , and in Vietnam, 8 – 29% of children have been through the same, which severely affects their future development as well as the health of each family unit and the society as a whole. The pursuit of appropriate treatment for children is highly expensive and time-consuming. In addition, the lack of awareness and knowledge among Vietnamese parents about the concept of mental health makes children more deprived of professional help. The underdevelopment of the healthcare system in Vietnam is also a barrier for suburban or agricultural families. Our motivations came from an experience with autistic children in a voluntary campaign. Throughout the campaign, we got to observe and resonate with the children, and we discovered many of the problems above in treating them, which ultimately led to the birth of “Mental Sprout”. As youths with past psychological baggage ourselves, with “Mental Sprout”, we are determined to help make life easier for countless children with mental problems.
Solution idea:In response to the problem, an ease of access to timely and professional treatments for each and every child in need is a must, which will be made possible through Mental Sprout. Mental Sprout is an app that helps parents search and connect with psychologists, therapists, psychiatrists and mental health clinics. Parents can easily search for affordable and appropriate mental health programs, then enroll their children in those courses based on the diagnosis of the professionals. They can also join multiple groups with other parents to learn more about others’ stories and share theirs. Also, the app will provide parents with data on their children’s improvement progress. Mental Sprout’s in-app procedure consists of 5 main steps. Firstly, children are provided with a brief thinking test and a deep clinical examination. Users (also parents) will enroll, contact and proceed payment through the app. Secondly, parents will pick the suitable programs/courses for their children based on their needs and wishes. There are various options ranging from mental clinics to individual professionals, all of whom are licensed and previously verified by the app. All information about all clinics and individual doctors will be explicitly displayed, and the fees and programs are decided by them. Thirdly comes the treatment process. Each parents’ account is entitled to one free-trial initial date with three random doctors. Parents and doctors will connect through direct messages, calls, and virtual meeting platforms. Treatment will consist of meetings with doctors and at-home parent’s company. Fourth comes the post-assessment, when doctors review the children’s progress and remind parents of notable to-dos for their children to be better everyday. In exchange, parents will rate doctors’ quality and eventually proceed with payment. All steps are strictly secured and the privacy of a child is always safe.

Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
We are a top-one enterprise in Vietnam in the field of banana fiber production and banana stem products with the goal of building Vietnam’s banana fiber industry, creating 1 million jobs, bringing economic value to the country, and contributing to the country’s economic growth. We are a part of building a circular economy. Our sustainable production and consumption to achieve goals 1, 8 and 12 of the 17 SDG of UN Goals.
Social challenge:We aim to build Vietnam’s banana fiber industry to create more than 1 million jobs for the farmers.
Solution idea:For farmers, turning a kind of agricultural waste into a stable earning is a great thing. For agricultural manufacturers, a kind of paper from banana trunks could be a reasonable raw material for notes of cash, printed papers, wrapping papers, tea-bags… For the textile industry, banana trunks can provide a kind of natural fiber which have numerous prominent advantages such as one of strongest fiber, highly air permeability and good length. For crafters, banana trunks can be used as a newly discovered material for handicraft products beside traditionally natural materials such as sedge, jute and thorn. For interior and fashion designers, banana fiber and banana cloth are kinds of special and interesting materials.Today, the acreage for planting banana is around 1.3 million hectares, which can provide 2 million ton of banana fiber annually. Vietnam is a suitable area for planting banana resulting from favors of weather and soil properties. Therefore, Vietnam has variety of advantages to multiply the area of planting banana. That is the reason we can believe the great potential of the banana fiber industry in Vietnam.

Social challenge:According to the International Rice Research Institute, each year, Vietnam production of straws is 43 millions tons and Vietnam wastes up to 70% of the total production – about 1-3 billion USD. This is not only wasteful but also pollutes the environment, emits greenhouse gasses, obstructs traffic. Besides, other burning materials used to group fires in the market are mostly made from wood. This inadvertently increases the number of trees being cut down every year. From these 2 environmental problems, I had come up with an idea of making eco-firelighters using the main raw material of rice straw. I have set 3 big goals when making this startup which is to reduce 10 millions tons of biological waste per year, to create Vietnamese world-class products, and to raise income for farmers.
Solution idea:Straw is a type of agricultural waste in Vietnam, farmers waste up to 70% of straw annually on average (according to data from the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture). Nam-Tural’s goal is to exploit 10 millions tons of the wasted straw in Vietnam annually, which is estimated to solve 31.1 million tons of CO2 emissions per year compared to firelighters made from wood (according to Nam-Tural research data). With this goal in mind, Nam-Tural replaces the wood material in the firelighters with straw, reducing the number of trees cut down, increasing the amount of CO2 taken up by the trees, and minimizing the amount of straw wasted. Moreover, Nam-tural collects straw for reuse, contributing to raising income opportunities for Vietnamese farmers. In addition, the material cost of Nam-Tural eco-firelighters is cheaper than rival products (wood wool firelighters).

Social challenge:Our target social issue is the alarming volume of greenhouse gas emission. According to the WMO, greenhouse gas concentrations reached new heights in 2019. World temperature continues its relentless increase: 2016, 2019 and 2020 are recorded to be the top three warmest years. We strongly believe such a crisis does not solely call for few governments’ attention, instead it requires a worldwide common effort against climate change. Everyone should be concerned by greenhouse effect because it damages the ozone layer and accelerates global warming, which undeniably puts our stable existence at risk. This issue is widespread throughtout Vietnam’s territory, however it has not gained serious concerns from the public, because its essence may seem complex. In Vietnam, the most prominent impact of CO2 emission and global warming takes form of heavy air pollution and increasing frequency of natural disasters such as the 2020 Central Floods which resulted in 233 fatalities and $1.52 billion of damages. Currently, Vietnam’s biggest CO2 discharger is the energy industry, accounting for more than 50% of total volume.
Solution idea:Our smart emission trading platform helps mitigate climate change through economic incentives. To ensure social impacts, we build products and long-term business plans in accordance with global and governmental orientation and utilize advanced technologies such as blockchain and AI.

UN goals:
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
As the first supplier of cardiovascular-parameter (including blood-pressure) monitors via telemedicine to Vietnam doctor consultant platforms, Telehos fosters innovation, complement these entreprises’ system and industrial diversification (addition of measuring devices to conventional systems) (UN goal 9); thereby, cardiac patients receive advanced healthcare → lower cardiovascular disease mortality (UN goal 3)
Social challenge:/Overview/ As a group who have passion and orientation in the medical field, we could be observed three major challenges spaciously and temporarily including the decline of conventional health systems, the lack of access to high-quality treatment in rural places and specific situations, and the problems associated with adhering to new governmental isolation directives during the COVID-19 epidemic. /Hospital overcrowded/ Medical treatment has been impeded by overcrowding and infectious disease. Vietnamese aged 15 to 64 account for 70% of the population. It serves as a “golden framework” for the country. After 2030, the elderly in Vietnam will get a 5.3 per cent annual increase. Increased elderly equals increased healthcare need. This will have ramifications for the eldercare system. The medical supply chain may be strained. /Remote area and chronic diseases/ Assuring rural health coverage and providing home care for chronic illness patients will boost welfare and equality. Non-communicable illnesses account for the majority of deaths and disability in Vietnam. Diabetes/chronic renal disease is the third leading cause of death and disability-adjusted life years in the United States. Medication and early detection may aid in averting deaths. /Realtime/ The possible pandemic implications of Covid-19 have created a number of hurdles for the medical community. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued Directives 15 and 16 requiring isolation in late March 2020. COVID-19 has had a terrible effect on the local healthcare system, leading to hospital closures. The 14-day shutdown of Bach Mai Hospital affects over 1.75 million people yearly. According to the Global Health Security Index, lockdowns have forced billions of people to remain home, with over three million deaths (as of the end of March 2021). Digital health may increase treatment results while boosting operational efficiency. /Conclusion/ In short, the telemedicine ecosystem is crucial for both physicians and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic in particularly, and for the sustainable development of Vietnam.
Solution idea:/Overview/ An all-in-one technology and a wide, reliable doctor network has emerged as the final answer to three key medical concerns in Vietnam. /General Idea/ Our goal is to examine and diagnose physical survival statistics and other important parameters. The data is automatically encrypted and stored in the cloud, AI development monitors data analysis, administration, and presentation to our linked and authorized physicians for tracking, diagnostic, and therapeutic guidance. Patients with chronic illnesses, people living in remote areas, and those secluded due to the government’s COVID-19 pandemic isolation guidelines are all potential clients. /Solve governmental issues/ Home healthcare solutions might be a national priority to relieve hospital overcrowding and prevent opportunistic infection. Home health care allows patients recovering from accidents or acute or chronic illnesses to stay at home. Working with an occupational therapist may help reduce injury risk. Getting medical care at home gives patients a sense of security and consistency in their everyday routines. Physicians cannot successfully monitor their patients’ health with conventional platforms as Docosan, eDoctor, Global Doctor. Doctors sometimes struggle to manage patients’ historical medical records. Our technology provides doctors with specific information on their patients’ health, enabling them to make a more complete diagnosis and deliver more exact treatment recommendations. /Overcome distant issues/ A high-quality health system requires an Internet connection and patient data digitalization in the cloud, especially for individuals who reside in remote areas. If the Internet was accessible in every country, everyone could benefit from a comprehensive healthcare solution. /Overcome current problems – COVID 19/ TeleHos help people avoid needless hospitalizations during the Covid 19 epidemic by managing health concerns at home and according to national isolation guidelines. Our telemedicine technology assists by monitoring and quantifying survival parameters on a regular basis. Additionally, patients may contact a physician at any time of day or night if they have questions about their symptoms or are confused what to do next.

Social challenge:Our social impacts are braving people the lifestyle of Reduce-Reuse-Recycle making our earth greener with an unpolluted environment affecting both mental and physical health along with creating a space for people coming to relax without any distance among others. For generations, enjoying tea has become a feature of Vietnamese culture. However, recently, the trend of using foreign tea has increased rapidly, thus significantly affecting the position of pure Vietnamese tea, putting pressure on Vietnamese tea enterprises. Therefore, we want to promote the Vietnamese originated tea commercial, take full advantages of the benefits from tea and tea grounds to improve the competitive efficiency for small-scale producers, creating handicrafted products. Meanwhile minimizing the problem of environmental pollution. In addition, the social issue that we aim at is also to solve employment problems, provide vocational training for vulnerable people, particularly the hearing impaired because we realize that they are completely capable of participating in the community and the job market to generate income for themselves to lead meaningful lives. At first stage, our project focuses on scaling up in the North of Vietnam, increasing scale in tea growing areas.
Solution idea:Our business intend to erase the distance between people and people. We create jobs for people with disabilities and promote Vietnamese tea trading. We impact the awareness of environmental protection by promoting the Reduce-Reuse-Recylce lifestyles. And we will all benefit from it, we love each other more, our souls are more relaxed, our health is more advanced, the environment is cleaner. The principles for achieving our goals are: Act from the heart, work with the head. The solution we bring is not only towards a simple tea-drinking space but also has a great meaning in building happiness in people’s hearts.”My beneficiaties benefit from my business’ interventions: Small tea businesses: stable output; People with disabilities: have a job that generates income, create self-confidence, control a life regardless of others, have an equal exchange; Community: has cultural and art space to relax and enrich social activities– Type of social work is both social construction and social engineering.
Social challenge:T-Home Peru arises from the need to transform a reality that worries and makes us uncomfortable. According to reports from government institutions in the country, only 1.9% of the total reusable solid waste is recycled in Peru and only 3 out of every 100 Peruvians recycle the garbage they generate daily. Daily, Lima generates 8 thousand tons of waste, but only 1% is recycled. Thus, San Juan de Lurigancho generates 780 tons of waste; Commas, 400 tons; and Villa El Salvador, 300. This, in addition to harming our environment, also prevents the inhabitants who live in the middle of them from having a better quality of life. Likewise, over the years, more and more people emigrate to the capital of Lima, which has led to the creation of Informal Settlements or known by Peruvian society as Human Settlements, young towns, neighborhoods, etc. This phenomenon has often led to people living in these areas that are considered high risk and with a low quality of life. Many of their homes are built with galvanized and tripley corrugated sheets, which do not provide very good protection against the weather.
Solution idea:In the past, civilizations were characterized by leaving imposing monuments as a sign of their ingenuity, knowledge and history; however, ours will leave traces of single-use plastic and aluminum. For this reason, we propose the creation and implementation of recycled and resistant tetra pak roofs in order to reduce the inequality gap and pollution in Peru. We thus seek to introduce to the market a new alternative for housing construction that is cheaper than any other type of existing offer. The main components of the tetrapak that will be used in the manufacture of these roofs will be plastic and aluminum. All this in order to develop a culture of recycling through strategic collection points in different areas of Lima (initially) as a result of intense recycling campaigns by the media; in addition, to mitigate the segregation and exclusion of informal settlements. This through sustainable development and ease in obtaining construction materials. Through alliances with NGOs in our country such as Techo Peru, we hope to provide certain benefits for the client, such as the lining of the infrastructure of the houses.

UN goals:
Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
VIRENTO promotes responsible consumption and sustainable economic growth by raising awareness among Vietnamese about renting. This will reduce the level of underutilized items and facilitate the circular economy in Vietnam through circulating products while avoiding creating any further harm to the environment.
Social challenge:VIRENTO is the Online platform connecting the people in need of renting and those who have something to share. VIRENTO appears to deal with the environmental issue. To be more specific, we would like to address the problem of unused or infrequently used products. According to research, a drill is only used for about 12 minutes until it is thrown away. Without any great solutions, the consumption of a new product with infrequent use would only increase. And the problem is not far from us; it could be right around us. A case in point is a Vietnamese friend, Hung. He buys a lot of tools to fix whatever needs repairing in the house such as drills, a big box of screws, and so forth. They are used only once or twice a year. When they are broken due to time, they get replaced, and that vicious circle goes on and on. The trash made from those items increases over time. That concerns VIRENTO’s team and motivates us to do something to end that and save this planet from wasting a large amount of resources.
Solution idea:Aiming at protecting this planet by reducing the trash from infrequent use of items, VIRENTO’s online platform allows people to earn cash by sharing possessions and lets borrowers save money and space. With the case mentioned in the previous answer, with VIRENTO, our friend, Hung, could rent the items or access the sharing service whenever he needs it instead of buying the brand new products. He could save his money, his space and someone else could gain some in return. Most importantly, the item would be more useful throughout its lifetime. The wastage from the disposal of new items would be less, which would be great for our environment, and the new products or the resources to build new ones will be reduced. Moreover, with VIRENTO, sustainability in consumption would be partly achieved. Instead of buying those infrequently-used products, we could spend more on other sectors of life, such as education, medicine, and so forth. To be more specific on how VIRENTO achieves what my team want to do, we would build the online platform like Shopee in order for people to upload what they want to share and other people who are in need get it. We would also act as the third party preventing the rentee from the trap of deposit and other problems. With that in mind, and with the help in the journey of Social Business Creation, we will specify the idea and make it as realistic and helpful as possible.

WeShare – Fundraising platform from daily consumption (location: Vietnam)
Leader:Truong Quoc Dat
Project’s brief description:A fundraising platform turning people’s daily consumptions into sustainable donations, We Shop – We Share.
Working language:English, Vietnamese,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_050_VN_WESHA
UN goals:
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
By turning people’s daily consumptions into sustainable donations, WeShare aims to change underprivileged people’s life in a sustainable way, contributing to human-focused SDGs 1, 2, 4, which align not only with the One Strategic Plan between Vietnam and the UN but also with our founding story.
Social challenge:In Vietnam, there are still many critical social issues. For instance, there are approximately 2 million extremely vulnerable children with an estimated 500,000 orphaned in Vietnam (SO Worldwide). Even worse, the Covid-19 pandemic increased the number by 2,500. Besides, 4.8% of Vietnamese have to suffer from poverty, while in 2020, the pandemic made a negative effect on 32.1 million people’s job (Vietnam GSO). Furthermore, there are still many people and issues left behind. To solve each problem thoroughly, fund is a necessary factor for more than 500 social organizations in Vietnam (VietnamCauses) to solve these problems sustainably. Currently, social organizations have to raise funds each month and quarter to maintain their operation, while individuals and businesses cannot make regular contributions. Growing up in the rural area of Vietnam, I always have a passion to better everyone’s life. One day, I saw the opportunity of affiliate marketing and consumers’ daily spending is never-ending, and thus a potential long-term source of donation to social funds. That’s why WeShare was born with the mission to turn daily consumption into long-term and sustainable funds.
Solution idea:HOW WESHARE WAS FOUNDEDOne day, while using the cashback (affiliate marketing) application, Quy found that the returned money is too small, which is the same experience of most of the other users. That makes users do not want to try or drop the cashback app (our survey with 1000 young respondents). We realize that consumers’ daily spending is never-ending, and thus a potential long-term source of donation to social funds. Through converting a proportion of this spending into donations for those in need, we are benefiting the society in three ways: (1) We help social organizations raise funds sustainably and efficiently, (2) assist businesses achieve their targets of growth, branding, and CSR, and (3) enable users to easily donate to a social fund of their choice when making an online purchase of particular brands with no extra cost, and in return, we receive affiliate marketing commission from those brands. WHAT IS WESHARE?WeShare is a fundraising platform, which was born with the mission that is to turn people’s daily consumptions into sustainable social funds while advancing businesses in the scope of growth, branding, and Corporate Social Responsibility. HOW IT WORKSWhere do the donations come from? WeShare applies the affiliate marketing model and receives a commission for every conversion we helped merchants generate which will be donated to the social organizations of users’ choice. PRODIGIOUS AND SUSTAINABLE FUNDSSince users can donate as frequently as their shopping routine with no extra cost, we can together create a sustainable fund every month. Not to mention, with the huge internet market that is growing double digits every year, we can also raise huge funds. ZINANCE (location: Ha Noi, Vietnam)
Leader:Nguyễn Lưu Anh Tuấn
Project’s brief description:Zinance offers a financial-education quiz app helping GenZ to gain financial knowledge with gamification model.
Working language:English, Vietnamese,
Webpage:https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca/competing-projects/SBC2022_112_VN_ZINAN
UN goals:
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Zinance aspires to become Vietnamese leading financial education platform for GenZ. As 1 of 4 pillars of national financial inclusion, financial education will create sustainable economic growth, universal access to financial services and reduced income inequalities which are 2 targets of SDG 8 and 1 target of SDG 10, respectively.
Social challenge:When I went to college, I struggled to manage the money that I borrowed from my parents. At the same time, I realized that lots of undergraduates are singing the same song. Moreover, that problem became more urgent and severe because of the financial instability during the pandemic. After conducting market research, we discovered that students’ needs are not only about saving or budgeting effectively, but also about investing to increase their income. Although financial literacy is beneficial, many of them are not financially literate and find that financial education is not immediately appealing. Looking into a larger scale, Naoyuki Yoshino’ research revealed that there is a close correlation between the prosperity of a country and its financial education. We, therefore, aspire to bring our generation – GenZ closer to financial wellness and positively contribute to economic growth by our financial education solution.
Solution idea:We initiated a financial education solution based on gamification models that help learners to gain financial knowledge comprehensively with amazing learning experience. Our app – Zinance designed to break down the big financial topics into “bite-sized” and high-quality learning modules. Users will learn from modules in numerous topics. After finishing each module, they will test their new financial knowledge by doing quizzes. For each correct answer, they gain the coins, the app’s currency that can be converted into rewards later on. Although financial literacy will have them save and optimize a huge amount of money, learning to be financially literate is not immediately attractive. Therefore, doing modules to earn coins then get the rewards is our direct incentive to address their needs.

[/learn_more]
